WHISKS OF WIND

Promises, like whisks of wind
oft made in full bluster
sound and fury, intense of meaning
dedicated to their execution
turn to be frequently forgotten expediencies
much as after the winds die down
few if any visible traces remain.

As with patterns of wind
layered in altitude striations
switching compass directions
together with seasonal temperature representation
so too do our promises vary
accommodating different times and situations.

As it has come to be one may state
that a very important promise
not yet fully made
teeters in the balance
given both positive and negative sways
holding an eager heart in full suspense
as the most crucial question is finally asked
will she or will she not be able to keep her promise
to join her future far off mate
or, much as a whisk of wind,
will it all come to naught.
