WHATEVER YOU WANT TO CALL IT

We humans have some peculiar traits
Special needs that come and go
Much as our tides do ebb and swell
With the gravitational pull of the moon
So too do we in cyclical mode
Respond to some primordial needs.

There are times when we have an urge
To break our daily routine
Our pattern of everyday life
We get restless want to roam
Change our job, travel somewhere
Get out of our rut do something unusual
Start a new life find a new mate
Escape the mundane experience the new.

Most are satisfied through vicarious experience
Such as utilizing a variety of media
Including aspects of reading or information technology
Occasionally a National event
A trip to the moon, to Mars, a new space station
Others through numerous great sporting spectacles
While there are those who through more nefarious means
Such as substance abuse or living in the fast lane
Their inner needs thus fully gain.

Yet as in times past as in our present and yes
As in our future years ad infinitum
This periodic restlessness this inner need this attribute
Extends not only to the individual
But to whole groups of peoples
As seen throughout all history
Including recent current events
As the most conclusive evidence
Of this strangely human phenomena
Whatever you want to call it.
