VIOLET APTED

I worked as a Telephonist until I had my first child. When I returned to work after my divorce I
worked with the tax office before working on a local newspaper. These were some of the happiest
days of my life and started me thinking that I should publish some of the many stories I had written
since I was seven years old. My first attempt I sent out to a national song-writing competition and
was one of the five finalists from thousands of entries. Encouraged, I began sending out my stories to
magazines and was published many times in UK. My pen name is Violet Apted.

We emigrated to Australia in 1976 and have made our home here in Queensland ever since. I have
won competitions and many certificates for my writing. I am a Tutor for Creative writing with The
University of the Third, I also belong to wring groups on the net one of which is ANA.  ( A Novel
Approach)  I really enjoy helping others to write and express themselves through the written word.
My story of childhood wartime was published in America in 2002 in an anthology ‘Forgetmeknots
from the front porch’ Obadiah press’. Last year I completed my first novel and hope to be published
       in USA this year.

You will realise from my eventful life that when my Mother told me I had more lives than the
proverbial cat, she was speaking the truth. All I will add is that my own life experiences have given
me everything I need to write my stories and poetry. I love to write and hope you enjoy reading my
       work.    Violet Apted
