Unseen Friends

I was always aware of ‘someone’

But was not sure of how, or when.

I will close my eyes and remember

I was maybe, about the age of ten.

I’d run and play hide and seek

with my friends. I’d so enjoy the game,

but no one else could see my friends

Life was never quite the same.

My Spirit friends then told me

It was time for them to leave.

“You have so much to learn, dear one,

but you will never fail to believe.”

“You will not ‘see’ us for a while

but we will always be here by your side.

And in your quiet moments, listen,

Because will are always here to guide.”

The changes in my life were many

In the ‘black times’ I would despair

But the words they had said were true.

I ‘listened’ and I knew they were there.

Now I am older. My children are all grown.

The lessons of my life I learned real well.

My ‘friends’ have once more appeared to me

And my ‘Guardian Angel’ with me does dwell.
