UNEASE

I feel unease today-it seems to permeate the very air I breathe,

Yet I need to ponder why?

I try in the quiet to search for reasons, and deep within my soul

I find I want to cry!

I see the raging storm, buildings crashing to the ground,

Transforming into a pile of rubble.

I cry, as I see the fallen trees lying on their sides,

    Or reduced to a stubble.

I feel the tears that blind my eyes. I gasp for breath,

    But there is pollution everywhere.

I choke on fumes of traffic smoke, and toxic waste,

    Cutting off my life's air.

I try to scream, " Oh stop, stop now before it is too late".

The voice of unease inside echo's "too late, too late.

I see a raging tide of contamination.

Yes I feel unease today- uneasy for my fellow man.

No fresh air to breathe. No clean water to drink.

No space left to build, no crops left to feed upon.

No place left to go. Our beautiful earth,

God's gift of life destroyed through fear and greed.

Forgive us our children, your inheritance of disease,

For we never listened to the warning of unease.

Kept the toxic piling! Choked the oceans of their wealth!

Not giving a thought to our children's health.

The rich they just get richer

The poor;  never getting their say.

More money! More money! Then came the final day.

From unease to panic- No air- No food - no planet!

Yes I feel unease today, DO YOU?
