An accident many years ago, left you a quadriplegic.
But you worked so hard fighting all the odds
With tenacity, determination and faith in your gods
Half the battle was won, now you were a paraplegic.
Twenty-seven years! A wheelchair was your only mobility.
An unfaithful wife called you a cripple and walked out one day.
Undaunted, you went on to succeed, helping others on the way.
Making them smile. Music, song and laughter were your epitome.
You wore the mask of a clown, though despair was in your heart.
Then came the day another’s words reached out to you.
Your lonely heart, quickly responded and a true love grew.
Sharing music, the written word, but you were a world apart.
Your true love had a dream, and said, “You will walk again.”
Your heart beat fast, Could such a thing be true?
Such faith you had in your love, you envisaged life anew.
You became aware of new sensations. Oh how sweet the pain.
Stumbling in those first few steps, you heard your true love’s voice.
“You will walk again.” So you persevered. Getting stronger every day.
Strong in body! Strong in mind! You walked with God along the way.
‘You will walk again.’ You believed, now you rejoice.
