TRANQUILITY

Peace, quiet, solitude
reigns on your meadow wide
strewn with flowers fragrant
befitting alpine heights
a canopy of blue
with mountains high
still partially capped
with winter's coat of white
stands of tall green firs
like artist touch
accentuating the refreshing
panoramic sight.

Our complex lives
burdened with daily tasks
do not permit our busy minds to relax
for even before the end of day
tomorrow's concerns come to the fore
causing restless nights
an agitated state
many seek relief
pills, drugs, substance abuse
yet they fail to provide
that which is sought
peace of mind
tranquility.
