THE NIGHT

The night is like a wondrous scene
Awash with shimmering stars
The peace this quietude brings
Is solace to my heart
I wish someone close to me
Could be here to share this part
I know her thoughts are with me
Though we are continents apart.

Stars grow brighter
As the night presses on
In the beauty of the hours
My thoughts happier now
Joyful the moments together
The sparkle of your eyes
Reminiscent of brilliant stars
Showing glowing love
Deep inside your heart.

The night sky traverses
Leaving the hours behind
Soon dawn will awaken
Ushering in a new day
Rays of sun piercing
The night sky away
Ending my happy thoughts
With the night vanquished by the sun.
