THE CLUB
Friday night a lively
time
at Jake's and Mary's
Colorado Club set out in Mack,
a small rural farm town
just this side of the Utah border,
rustic and old, a long high wood bar,
wide slatted wooden floor,
pool tables one one side,
dance floor in-between
juke box and bandstand
on the other side,
facing a large fireplace
with man sized burning logs,
tables and chairs country style
nothing fancy here just
good, friendly, honest help.
The folks inside
a mirror of their community,
men in jeans, cowboy boots and hats,
many bearded, weather beaten, rotund
traces of farm life
often on the harder side,
the women dressed equally
in modest farm clothes,
kids taking it all in
having a great time
after all it is Family Friday night.
The three man band
of steel guitars
country,western, fifties music
they well present,
as couples do their dance,
a few quite expert in their steps,
to the wild hoots of the spectators,
while others talk, their drinks enjoy
in Mack, at the Colorado Club.
