That particular home
furnished to your taste,
with swimming pool and
tennis court landscaped,
decorated by tall trees,
shrubs, flowers you love,
sitting on top of a knoll
viewing the valley below,
late model cars, a larger
boat, a three car garage
 long cherished dreams
that may have come true.

That trip around the globe
off to exotic foreign lands,
or the island in the sun with
lovely natives of strange tan,
cruise ships and jet planes,
kayaks, canoes, sea planes,
pack horses, donkeys, a long
excursion on a difficult trail,
perhaps heights to achieve
mountain summits to reach,
snorkeling tropical reefs or
exploring caves underground
just some of the things you
may have long dreamed about.

Our childish wishes
do not always materialize,
nor do our childish ways
miraculously evaporate,
some, still quick to anger
lash out, strike another,
cannot reason with logic,
action before thought,
a 'me first' pattern that
has never been overcome,
inconsiderate, selfish,
demanding, arrogant,
in one way or another
the Child within us
still remains.
