SUMMER SUN

Hot the noonday sun
hot her radiant heart
 blue spread sky above
genial her personality
languid balmy breezes
heartfelt honest words.

Thrice did the months turn
each bonding, binding us,
cementing our relationship
our desire to court affirmed
as the sun its solar path avers
we too await daily togetherness.

Her beginnings humble in origin
a native of our mountain West
of proud parents hard life worn
she and her siblings efforts made
to succeed through sheer tenacity
reaching lives of comfort, success
now in widowed years a new friend
fresh interest a change in life at last.
