SPRING CLEANING

Unknown as to why the universal urge
though the practice well established
we succumb to the annual rite of Spring
ferreting out that which is no longer needed
is non essential, undesirable, superfluous
unnecessary to our daily living thus gaining
space, some small measure of efficiency
plus possible remuneration for our efforts
satisfaction of achievement, a job well done.

That was the easy part.
That which is vastly more difficult,
virtually impossible to achieve for most
relates to the cobwebs of our mind
in which, in like manner, are stored
volumes of unnecessary, harsh, hurtful,
cruel, complex distorted memories and
thoughts which with even great effort do not
seem to eradicate, dislodge, relinquish
their place thus enmeshing our conscious,
subconscious mind and thoughts with
unnecessary complications, causing a tyranny
of ineptitude in our clarity of thought,
depriving us of peace of mind, of happiness
so eagerly sought, while similarly affecting
loved ones and those around us.
