SKYLIGHTS

The house on the corner,
a quiet residential street
with cantaloupe growing
amid flowers, raspberries,
just part of the garden as
one walks up some steps
a rustic paneled door.

Inside, a reception hall
decked with unique art
of native American craft,
a variety of plants, cacti
adorning an antique desk
hutches, chests, cabinets
all of vintage years filled,
full of collectibles oozing
memory, filled up the rest.

Clean, neat, practical, orderly
a pleasure to visit, relax, rest,
a graceful Lady, alert, cheerful
her long years of life indelibly
etched onto her engaging face,
she fit her home and it fit her
two appropriately integrated.

Yet one feature most noticeable,
the strategic placement of a
series of high tech skylights
resulting in bright rays of light
indirectly illuminating the home,
as if goodness on it was entrust.
