SERENITY

'Tis the sun that sets
the darkness of the night brings on
its stillness and quietude
allowing us to recount
the events of the day
to measure, take stock
reflect, compensate.

Thus slowly as our mind clears
we unruffle that which
has weighed us down,
preyed on our nerves,
solicited inner emotional response,
driven us to needless depths
until with ample reflective time
we finally are able to relax
to calm our inner self.

Now, with mind relaxed,
our composure regained
we turn contentedly inward
to savour more pleasant fare,
thoughts more positive
of happiness and joy
of hope and dreams yet unborn
our peace of mind now fully wrought
leaving us in a tranquil state of mind,
serene, with an inner glow
reflected on our peaceful face.
