SENSORY OVERLOAD

So much to hear

so much to view,

bombarded senses

filling eyes and ears.

How much can we take in -

scan, sort, weigh, assimilate,

information input overload,

a non-stop sensory attack.

We tend to protect ourselves

fend off, turn out, shut down

repetitious images and events

to save ourselves, our sanity.

Yet we are not totally immune

to the information processed,

once acknowledged we retain,

decisions made, actions taken.
