SEEKING SOLACE

Lost, my last sweetheart
When she moved to another town
It took awhile to overcome
The sadness after she had gone.

Substance abuse is not my way
Joining clubs, organizations is my play
Through trial and error found one who may
Possibly bring solace, cheer my day.

It seemed to have a good start
She surely has a good heart
Liked theater, music each other’s company
One major problem, she didn’t like our chemistry.

Accepted in good faith,
Hoping for another date
When a unique angel from before
Kindly, unexpectedly knocked on the door.

We spent a long evening
In a very friendly fashion
Did a little cuddling and smooching
Awakening a long lost passion.

We're happy to be together again
Laughed and talked to ease any pain
Watched a very funny comedy at home
Decided to be close friends from now on.
