THE SEA
Gently rolling, white topped waves
rush in along the shores,
that over endless years were carved
from breaking surf with rhythmic force,
flowing, ever flowing as the surging tides
their rendezvous with land did seek,
and there, upon that time washed shore
stood I today, looking at the sea.
I thought of the sea as a mighty hand
that was before me now,
primeval birthplace of mankind,
to which man is ever drawn.
I thought of the sea and of the shore,
of the grains of sand on the lengthy beach
and of the droplets of water spraying me;
the sea, that distant years from now,
no longer remembered by man will be.
I liked the sea on our planet earth
for the sea has always been good to me.
