SAYING SORRY

Everyone, at one time or another
feels compelled for whatever the
reason to say "I am truly sorry" for

what was by accident or purpose
inflicted on someone by utilizing
trite excuses well known to most
such as apologies or regrets just
some of the common ways used
to cover, minimize, relieve, soften
feelings of guilt that may remain.

The superficiality in our apology
quite evident to the recipient has
no meaning for the personal hurt
imposed, leaving emotional scars
long remembered by the affected.
To do justice, really make amends
we must truly regret our actions,
ask first if we can repent, atone,
be sincere in our remorse, let it be
felt by the one we address, so that our
sorrow comes straight from our hearts.
