RENEWAL
Tall shadows
stretching endlessly
Like an opaque wall sifting all color
and light
Preventing warmth and beauty from penetrating
To our innermost sanctuary, the anchor of life
From which we kindle our spirits, emotions our very being.
Thus shielded,
we carry on seemingly secure
In our material horn of plenty, callous towards others
Driving ourselves relentlessly in robotic fashion
Disregarding all feelings of courtesy and compassion
As long as our materialistic goals are met.
Yet despite
this businesslike and tough exterior
Something is drastically wrong, something vital is missing;
Vainly, with our hearts close to breaking,
Coupled with a frequent feeling of emptiness
We continue looking, searching, seeking that very
Special "something" to make a more meaningful life
but
Finding only masks and shadows to further frustrate us.
Begone dark
shadows!
Begone devious masks!
Let color,
beauty, light return to your heart,
View the magnificence of nature all around,
Feel the emotions, pulse and chemistry
Of the people with whom you daily interact
Hold dear and love, that surround you;
As like in manner as your precious blood
Courses through your arteries and veins,
So too refract and radiate the light of
Love, kindness, understanding to those you meet
From the deepest recesses of your heart
For you will find your renewal of spirit,
Your renewal of mind and your renewal of heart.
