REFLECTION

As the rays of the morning sun
played upon the still waters of the Sea
in the Land of the Morning Calm
its reflection of peace and serenity
left me with an unforgetable impression.

Reflections of our own, communicating
within the deep recesses of our mind
can be thought provoking, revealing,
confounding, humorous or profound.
Infrequently but periodically, prompted
by some compelling inner need,
we do stop in our tracks as it were,
to do just that, reflect on
where we are or where we were.

As we sink deeper and deeper into our thoughts
the why's, wherefore's and how come's
of our concerns, our consternations,
at first like fog, misty and vague
begin to take on form and substance
as if the brightness of our concentration,
like the rays of the sun dissipating fog,
bring reason and clarity to our search.

Most of us can now begin to really see
akin to looking through an electron microscope
what we have done and where we have been.
Tiny particles, strands invisible to the naked eye
become rivers, bridges, complex interchanges
when magnified hundreds or thousands of times,
just like our impulsive actions or reactions
intially left us partially or totally blind,
now through the power of our reflection it
all comes together clearly focused in our mind.

Do we then take corrective action,
have the courage, fortitude, wisdom
to make amends, reverse course,
to find that inner peace, tranquility
we are perpetually looking for,
as was vividly shown by the rising sun
casting golden rays upon a mirrored Sea
in a most memorable reflection.
