RAIN
Gently did Fall leaves
rustle
among the stately trees
as the maidens of wind
their velocity did
increase
causing a blue canopy above
to rapidly shift to a dark
gray,
soon, first drops began to fall
increasing in scope to full
rain,
winds now fiercer their howling began
water in sheets seemed to
drown
all that sight could see, obscuring
with darkened skies, all
visibility
the sound of wind, of driving rain
an eerie, steady rhythm
conjured,
which in a most strange way,
relieved my tensions,
relaxed my
mind -
suddenly I thought of you.
Warm my feelings,
a
smile on my face,
as I recalled a most
similar inclement day -
we
rushed for shelter
thoroughly soaked,
laughing, shouting all the
way
happy, the joke was on us,
for we were younger then
there was
nothing we could not do,
no obstacle to great,
we looked at each
other
though dripping wet, embraced,
to the tune of the howling
winds,
and the sound of the driving rain.
