PROFOUND MISTAKES

Throughout historic time
Human failings were prime
Causing major declines,
Halting, reversing progress
Until errors were defined.

Centuries later
With our vast knowledge base,
We wonder just how grievous
Errors got started, lasting years
Till corrected and made right.

Currently we are still learning
Compressing our knowledge base
From years to a very short time,
Strides are being made in all fields
Yet, we are still making profound mistakes.

We have not cleansed our earth and water
Though some progress has been made,
We have not yet learned to work together
There are still a number of rogue states,
Our personal behavior is often rotten to the core
Indeed, are we really that different
From early man or are we worse?
