Too busy to see
the beauty of a tree

Too pressured to view
that the sky is a lovely blue

Upset, angry upon waking
dependent on pills you are taking

Rushing through the day
senses blocked all is shadow and gray

No time for feelings or emotions
such foolishness but useless abstractions

Status, money, power, connections
important drivers foremost in our directions

Yet we crave that which escapes us
love, peace of mind, respect, calmness

Reverse course, stop, use your senses
analyze the hurt you have caused others

Feel, reach out, rediscover
loved ones, friends, all near and dear

Perhaps you will sleep better
wake up smiling, kiss, hug, live a little longer.
