OVER THE HILL
Just what is it that seems to make us wonder
what lies beyond the place we live,
the town next door, the valley that follows,
across the river, the plain, the mountain
to the shore, the sea, far off distant lands.
The Nomad within wanting to know,
Wanderlust driving us to explore;
greener pastures, the love of adventure
ingrained, instilled from time immemorial.
Prominent adventurers and explorers
fill the pages of our history books
while others perhaps equally great
are unknown leaving no written trace for us.
Have we now been everywhere
is there nothing left to explore,
oh no, my friend far be it from that,
for one, there is man's inner world
of which our knowledge is still sparse;
the Solar System, our own Universe,
Worlds beyond, and beyond, and beyond
too many Worlds for even man to explore.
Man will attempt to persevere
to ever be the Viking of his world,
his modern ships in space will sail
looking to see, what is once more
over that very next hill.
