ONCE LONG AGO

Once when I was young
I took a girl to the prom
We danced and we sang
Till the Prom was done.

We felt close on the way
Smiling we had a lot to say
Emotions began to hold sway
Our chemistry matched the day.

We dated for some time
Always hot milk, no wine
Cheek to cheek, eyes would shine
Thinking to combine without a dime.

Our hearts would not let us rest
With faith in the future at best
We both decided to give it a test
We were happily married at last.
