Inviting, the roads that allow
one freedom to roam
to heart's content all alone,
true, certain conventions of
necessity need be observed, to
prevent calamities undeserved,
still the thrill of the open road
adventure in hand once on the go,
a visual exploration of the unknown,
folk of interest to meet, as one
casually, happily enjoys the ride,
impressions, memories combined
stored in our mind for future times.

Ah, yes but what about the road
to my lady's heart
would that, were free and open to roam,
but the itinerary to the sanctum of her heart
has many a hurdle, obstruction, barrier
that must be traveled by alternate routes,
through byways, circuitous course
to overcome the impediments, the restraints,
the encumbrances, to draw nearer to the
access, the passage, the route to her heart,
an experienced, skilled, patient driver
must at all times be in total control,
less the icy road conditions laced with
treacherous avalanches and mud slides
serving as deterrents on her tough road
cause one to err suffering defeat of the goal,
yet unwavering determination and love
will result in opening the road to her heart.
