Nature's beauty delights
the eye
yet oft deceived are we
our sensors only a partial image see
though we think we see it all
through wit we recognize, classify
as from early on we have been taught
though most learning mere superficiality
we blindly accept that which we are told.
We see the tip of the
iceberg
yet monstrous is the mass below
huge shapes, sheer cliffs, vast caverns
constantly changing is the slowly
melting mass of frozen ice and so
ever drifting into warmer climes
till conversion is complete
iceberg to sea transforms.
Perhaps we too
in dealing, judging each other
see but superficiality
gloss over any in depth analysis
take the surface layer for granted
we see but only partially
thus knowingly or unknowingly
affront, prejudice, hurt each other
all this so unecessary
were we but to take the time
to question, analyze, think
our lives more sweet, less bitter
would assuredly be.
