NIPPON LADY

Born into an esteemed family
some twenty odd years ago
with roots in Imperial Kyoto
steeped in culture, tradition,
former center of civilization
rich in architecture with its
temples, shrines, Imperial Villa,
there, citizens to old values cling
conservative, protective, snobbish.

To be taught and to teach
as student and teacher
Tomoko arrived with gentle smile
soft voice, kind, amiable,
polite, considerate, delicate,
gracious in her movements,
a warm friendly disposition,
helpful and good natured,
added peace, serenity, love
to those fortunate to have met,
had been taught or lived with her.
Lady of Nippon you live
in our hearts forever.
