NEW YEAR’S EVE
I picked her up
We went to eat
It was the thirty-first
New Year’s Eve,
2010 coming up.
She was dressed
In a two piece set
Thick lined coat
Scarf round her neck
Single digit, cold outside.
Our main Theater
An opera at the Avalon,
“Man of La Mancha”-
Our resident tenor
James Werner and staff
Prepared it all for us.
A good crowd
Appreciative, in good mood,
Applauded many times
For arias and songs
With standing ovation
At final curtain call.
We returned home
Glad for some hot tea,
After all this is Colorado
A State known for
Mountains, snow and skis.
Sat around talked for awhile
Laughed at some of the things we said
Eventually decided to go to bed
Blue Moon - our sleep interrupted
Oh well, we had to start the Year with a Bang
Looks like 2010 will be a happy one.
