LUMINOSITY

As the setting sun
its shadows over the landscape casts
so too do you exist in my mind
an image devoid of hue, of colors
a general shape of gender
without specifics attached
much as the eclipse
darkens the body of the sun
its luminescence fully hidden
save for a hint of its corona
your being from my senses blocked
leaving only my imagination
vainly attempting to fill the gap.

This so done
with purpose at its design
for reasons to me unknown
perhaps to savor the moment
if it shall ever come
to reveal that which has
been so carefully hidden
bright, warm, beautiful
akin to the now slowly
emerging sun.
