LEITMOTIV

Brunhilda, the fair, blond,
blue eyed fierce leader
of the band of Valkyries
makes her dramatic entrance
with shield and spear in hand
accompanied by her musical signature
as distinctly and differently
provided for each major character
by the composer in his opera.

Perhaps, we too, are on stage
in our very own lives
where we might, in our own way
ascribe our equivalent signatures
to the persons we meet,
work or interact with each day
be they our loved ones, friends,
teachers, employers or persons
we contact in all walks of life.

Some we might look forward to
with happiness and love
while others a lesser stature would rate
then there are those
we might fear, even try to avoid
saving us possible embarrassment,
if thus you give it some solid thought
you might even agree
that yes, I do indeed use
a Leitmotiv, "a signature" of my very own.
