INVIOLATE PRINCIPLES
Like solid granite rock
Societies adhere to laws
That binds them together such as,
The Declaration of Independence,
The Bill of Rights, the Constitution,
The Ten Commandments and
Similar codified rules and laws.
Individuals in most cases also
May have their own principles
They determined adherence to -
Based on their inner conscience,
Cumulative personal value systems,
Taught parental and spiritual inputs
Forming their psycho-emotional psyche.
As with the laws of the land,
Modifications, changes, updates
Are occasionally mandated,
So too, are they a necessity
In our personal lives mainly due
To our emergencies and vagaries
As we journey through life.
Changing our principles is difficult,
The more inviolate these are the
Greater the complexity, the process
Of successfully executing a change;
The same holds true individually
When our own inviolate principles
May have to give way to change,
What then will your reaction be?
