INTEGRITY

The promises we make
the vows we take
genuinely adorned
with deep love and feeling
bonding our hearts and minds
leading to a happy future
thought to be just short of Paradise.

Lovers as bountiful as
flowers in the meadows
do indeed plot and plan
hoping to achieve their aim
to live long lives together
in peace, bliss and harmony
indeed some succeed
while countless others
their goal never reach.

There are as many reasons
as there are waves that
rush in and ebb with the tide
though some are as basic
as the fingers on our hands
such as honesty, sincerity,
trustworthiness, integrity
among many others
though one primary one
just might be, not always
thinking of oneself, but
considering the basic
needs of the other.
