INDIFFERENCE
Indifference
to that
For which there is no personal concern
Little or no interest shown,
It matters not how others struggle or fare
As long as our personal lives do not involved become.
Yes, most espouse
sympathy
They may even pay lip service
To the plight of the unfortunate -
Yet, no action is forthcoming
It is someone else’s problem to resolve.
That callous,
neutral attitude
Pervading most of our society,
Uncaring neighbors astride
Most friends suddenly scarce
A shallow, meaningless divide.
Even those
in charge of our problems
Often have suggestions to their benefit
Appearing to help, lining their pockets instead,
Being callous, hard hearted, unconscionable
Unwilling, sarcastic, derisive at best.
Lose not your
courage, your fortitude
Instead count on your inner strength
Have faith in yourself, maintain your hope
Seek out your options, change if you must
Be persistent, try many paths, success will be ahead.
