HYPERBOLE

Hyperbolism is rampant.
Consistently used in media,
in print, advertisements,
commercials, talk shows,
promotion for various causes,
mostly without constraints
or meaningful restrictions.

Our senses being constantly bombarded
with exaggerated claims of being the best,
most honest, fairest, the only this or that
immunizes us over time to that technique,
which we mostly tune out subconsciously.

Special sporting events, musical festivals
events drawing large numbers of people,
are thoughtfully subjected to the utilization
of very skilled talent at great corporate cost,
in the creation of innovative, appealing even
occasionally delightful, meaningful products.

Hyperbolism in its vast overuse
has been so consistently persuasive
that it has been adopted by many
in their everyday use of speaking,
writing and general communication;
new street words have even been coined
topping the current Hyperboles in use.

One must wonder then
if the rapid changes in our present language
that have already occurred due to the
accelerated speed of our information technology,
will be even more degraded with
the unabashed free use of Hyperboles.
