Everybody listen,
I have something to say,
and if you listen closely,
it just might make your day!
Poetry is simple
Rythm and rhyme
Often sells for less than a dime.
Why do we write when we don't expect reward
and sometimes are hung by a cord,
for what we write
what we say
a reason trite,
and we are slain.
But poets continue their work
and never can truly shirk.
For whenever one writes in the lines
making words fit certain times,
with certain sounds
all around
sometimes they rhyme
sometimes they don't
some like poetry with a chime
others don't.
You see poetry is an art,
but it's easy and anyone can start,
once you begin to write - no fear,
poetry is always clear.
An art often observed for idea or fun
sometimes just to prove we're number one.
We all write poetry when we want,
sometimes we even pick out a font.
Sometimes we pick out colors or themes,
other times, we just write on our screens,
or on paper from trees,
or if we fancy, our hands or our knees.
So everyone come talk,
about life or things,
about the beauty of walks,
or decadence of kings.
Write what you think or what you feel,
and if it's done right, it'll have appeal.
If it's not done right then never fret,
there's just one simple rule you can't forget,
poetry isn't truly about being approved,
it's only that you write
and might is not right,
but to write is right.
So all those who fear,
of rejection by their peers,
of what they write in poetic form,
don't be afraid to experience scorn,
just write
right now
write right away,
and see what you can come up with today!
