FRIENDS

It is human nature to be gregarious
Becoming friends is easy, natural
For some, while those more selective
Find connecting with others difficult.

Childhood, school friends fairly common
Neighborhood, work affiliations also so
As are fraternities, clubs, sport activities,
Regularly scheduled events and affairs.

Family members, friends, acquaintances
Often introduce interesting people to others,
Who, in turn, may do likewise, expanding
Contacts, creating a growing cycle of possibilities.

People like to chat, find out about each other,
See what experiences they have in common
Perhaps plan to attend another function –
All the while checking to see if they are compatible.

If, after some time, they feel comfortable
They may try to become friends, enjoy each other
Find mutually attractive activities, spend time together
Decide what kind of friendship is best suitable for them.

Friendship choices are huge –
Casual Friends, close Friends,
Intimate friends, Best Friends,
The List is as varied as are the friends.

On occasion friendship may lead to
Companionship, which if the relationship
Continues to grow, may turn into courtship,
Eventually into a more permanent arrangement.
