FRAT BROTHERS
A
dozen or so
students most of us
close friends, buddies
hanging around together
in some of the tougher
neighborhoods mostly around
DeKalb Avenue, Brooklyn New York.
The
Aztecs is what we called ourselves,
even had lapel pins designed
to give to our girls
that meant going steady
no one else involved
it was Frat honor to respect that.
Then, as happened now and then,
we decided to throw a bash,
New Years eve it was,
we worked hard, all set to go
one by one we arrived with our dates
it all started slow but warmed up fast,
rocking along, the evening wore on
things moved from cool to hot
there were two types of girls
those that did and those that did not,
the same went for the boys,
so you "takes" your choice.
At
midnight we all kissed our girls
then the dancing, smooching went on
I gave my girl Molly my Aztec pin
she was very happy about that
we danced, talked, into the early morn
by the time I took her home
we were steadies
it wasn't too long after that
our wedding we've had,
most all the Aztecs attended
Sam was my "best man"
eventually, over time,
we drifted apart, relocated,
married and grew up
most followed their dream
for in reality the Aztecs
were a real nice bunch.
