An error of judgment it was
a miscalculation of sort,
for the picture I drew in my mind
left some important details behind.

The friendliness in her notes
 seemed genuine enough,
the tone honest and plain,
one of sincerity, nothing for gain.

Perhaps I overlooked the fact
that her decisions quickly were made,
adjustments to apparent necessities,
plans changed as quick as that.

It should have been no surprise,
 when with enthusiasm overwhelmed,
I crafted a cheerfully optimistic reply
which I had thought missed its mark.

Luckily the error was mine,
my dear friend responded splendidly,
what could have been the end for me
turned out instead, the beginning to be.
