DREAMING
Twilight, into the shadow of night has drawn,
a mind tired from the winds of day
now relaxed, in nocturnal sleep has fallen,
the night through numerous stages will pass
from light touch of slumber to that of deep rest,
on occasion tossing and turning
peaceful, though at times fretful -
gone the night in almost a wink,
at other times it may seem eternal -
depression, stress, anxiety, fatigue,
culprits of a troubled mind, may cause
sleep depravation, resulting in physical degradation
save for the helpful cushion of our dreams.
Our dreams perhaps just the residue
of incomplete parts and pieces
shades and shadows of our subconscious
may act as a cleansing agent
relieving, releasing our pent up emotions,
thus our dreams as uniquely different
as the mind of each dreamer -
dreams of stardom, dreams of fame
dreams of horror, dreams of shame
dreams of fantasy, dreams of love
dreams of desire, dreams of lust
some dream in colors vivid, others do not
some dreams seem short, others long,
yet most compressed in seconds' time -
wouldn't it be nice to know
what's really on our minds.
