DISTRACTIONS

Distractions often though not always
the bane of our existence
thwarting, influencing, changing
our objectives, goals, direction
at times subtly, at times dramatically
diverting our attention, interrupting our concentration
generated at different levels with various intensities
yet in our time, as in time before, as in time to come
they will always be there increasing
in complexity proportionately in tandem
with mankind's techno scientific advances.

Though some symptoms of distraction
may stem from bio genetic disorders
which may be medically treated or alleviated
others such as natural disasters are generally unavoidable
as are accidental tragedies of international importance
often leading to national or worldwide distraction.
Not all distractions are negative
some are beneficial, creative, relaxing
such as many a hobby including
amusement, sport, music, reading,
writing poetry among others.

On a more personal note
we may often encounter serious distractions
with our loved ones, our families,
or in our relationships, leaving us
frustrated, confused, angry unable to cope
failing to realize that though
what has happened may have been beyond our control
our very own reactions to these distractions
are controlled entirely by ourselves.
