DISCERNMENT
One fine day
Or perhaps a rainy one,
You greet someone
Who has kindly come
For a visit to your modern home.
Introductory remarks aside
Talking shifts to a more personal side
Family, children, experiences, life -
Host and guest now relaxed, smile
Laughter, empathy, understanding
As the hours rapidly glide by.
Time for dinner, we leave for a
Mexican Restaurant close by,
Where our amicable chatter carries on
Over enchilada and chimichanga
Pleasant, enjoyable, simple, memorable.
Neither wanted to say goodbye
So back to home to spend more time,
Watch a comedy projected on the wall
Hilarity, viewing The Gods Must Be Crazy
Goodness, our humor shows compatibility, acuity.
Throughout this lengthy private social
time
Thoughts assessing each other passed our minds
Learning about our emotions, our feelings - prime,
Her person, her inner being, her big heart just fine
With her concurrence hope to become friends for a long time.
