The cruelty of decisions imposed
evident not by choice but necessity,
forcing compliance that one would rather avoid,
yet free choice notwithstanding,
the somewhat constrained actions
need to be initiated and begun.

No one is immune to this situation,
for it happens to us all,
in one way or another
throughout the course of our lives,
usually without much warning
snaring us with much surprise.

Our lives often drastically changed,
forcing us into new molds,
with insufficient the time to plan
to neatly tie our lives together again,
our loss usually greater than our gain,
testing our determination, our resilience,
to prove that our lives will not be lived in vain.
