AS IF

A stillness has descended on me

As if I hold my breath

As if the last leaf

Will never fall.

As if the storm will never come.

Waiting for time to continue

As if it had taken a detour

A small trivial delay

In my time line

As if a storm is of no consequence.

I wonder what there will be

On the other side of the  detour—

After the storm—

When time starts again—

I can only think there will be nothing.

I cannot imagine a continuance

I wait outside of time

Watching the storms pass

Slowly, quietly, and not of me.

Not even fear to keep me company.
