BURDENS

As we through our life's path wind
With circumstance of future oft unknown
Some may take a fateful turn
Which at the moment full of promise shows
Though eventually if not sooner
Those much desired cherished hopes
No longer are possible
No longer are bestowed.

It is then that we are tested
In ways unpleasant at best
Attempting to meet repeated instances
Of necessary timely obligations
Many the nature of fiscal emergencies
Without the means at our disposal
To satisfy these and put them to rest.

The growing realization of our burdens
Thus accruing and compounding
Place uncertainty, doubt and stress
Unduly upon us at the very time
Our already strained frame of mind
Is under greatest pressure.

Burdens of the mind
Burdens of the heart
Burdens of the soul
All intertwine and converge
Thus gradually beginning to take their toll
Challenging the inner resources
Of our will, faith and conscience
Enjoining those of us who can still cope
To turn their lives around
With radical new plans full of hope.
