BEYOND LOVE

Refreshingly precious the new love
hauntingly beautiful the new song
celestially wondrous the new star
whispers of adoration, bonding,
commitment, intimacy abound,
feelings of overpowering joy,
of ecstasy complete the
memorable nuptial hours.

Love thus joined
has just begun
the long journey
through the light of Day,
the darkness of Night,
stopping at the well of joy,
crossing the river of sorrow,
while all along the way
temptations, vagaries of life
their challenges make,
until such time
as with all Past
natural life must end.

Our lives,
no matter who or what,
a tiny ripple in
the sands of time,
so brief that in less
than the blink of an eye,
the winds of eternity
obliterate our track,
now merged into the
vast void of ever
separating emptiness.

Yet we speculate,
we really do not know
just what events do take place
when we eventually go,
there just may be an unknown,
a balance in the entire
scheme of things
pertaining to the Universe
as a whole, whereby even
the most insignificant act
has a ripple effect
somewhere opposite, to
counter and balance that -
one fact though is surely
proven beyond all doubt,
though our lives may be gone,
Love, forever lingers on.
