BANDS THAT BIND
By
itself naught but an elegant band
Oft
consisting of silver, gold or platinum
Displayed
in a showcase of similar ware
Waiting
to be suitably selected by one who cares
To
be used most solemnly at an appropriate time
Usually
on the fourth finger of the left hand
As
a respected symbol of a permanent bond.
This
then accomplished
The
band thus placed
Miraculously
takes on a mystique of its own
Reflecting
the cumulative experiences of a lifetime
Of
the one unique person
On
whose finger it has been placed.
Each
band thus
Singularly
different in its own way
Represents
the ups and downs
The
highs and lows
The
good and bad
The
vagaries and variances of life
Each
its own special story to tell
From
time immemorial
Throughout
the world
One
can find no duplicate.
To
you on whose finger
the
band that bonds
has
been so bestowed
Look
upon it carefully once again
Thoughtfully
reminisce its origin
Recall
its precise moment of happiness
Rejuvenate
your state of mind
Remember
the purpose and commitment
Rededicate
yourself to the original cause
Of that
band on the fourth finger of your left hand.
