A Song For Mari
Today I had a visit of a little girl
her name is Mari.
She is only one and a half year old.
Good morning little Mari -
you are so cute and lovely.
I want to give you a big kiss,
but I have to be careful.
I don't wish to frighten you,
I will be your friend.
Perhaps you can remember me
later in your life;
In that white, big house lived
an old lady - I got sweets from her
and I remember she had a big doll
staying there on a table.
The life you have in front of you,
little Mari.
I hope you will get a good life
and what you need to day
is care from those who love you.
And you are lucky you have parents
who do love you.
I'm sorry Mari - but not all children
on this earth have all the things
which they need.
Today you are not thinking
about these problems
and you feel very safe.
You have always met
people who smiled at you
and say:Oh what a cute girl.
Look at the golden hair
and her little face -
she is a beauty.
I wish all the best for you
little Mari -
and somethimes when you are a woman
perhaps you can say:
Oh - I remember in that white house
lived an old woman
she looked so gentle -
of course she is dead now
must it grow flowers there.
Bye little Mari
