DARK NIGHT

A dark night in 1944 the city Bergen had a nightmare.
Many bombers came over the city
a war was going on.

Some were crying
and some were dying that night.
During the time all this lasted
people were praying that night.

The people who were near where all this happened
could never forget this night.
And far away were some waiting for:
sons and lovers
husbands and brothers
that night.

Not all of them got their dear ones back again.
A crew of eight got a wet grave in the water
far away from their own country
and their dearest and nearest
that night.

Today you can look at a memorial column
with their names on it
in a city with the name of Bergen
and the country is Norway.

Many of them who were waiting for
sons and lovers,
husbands and brothers
that night
have got their own graves now.

Today there is now more crying and tears
as on that night.
