ADMITTING FAILURE

We all wish for success
Try mightily with our best
Keep attempting to the last
Stalled, we failed our test.

Perhaps our aim was too high
Our goal reaching for the sky,
Unrealistic, unprepared, wild -
Unwilling to change, to modify.

It may not have been all our fault
There may have been another cause
For surely we do not in a vacuum operate
Yet, we need to take a fresh look and pause.

Where did we go wrong,
Were we overanxious, impatient, overconfident –
Was our ego inflated, do we think too much of ourselves,
Did we rely too much on others to fulfill our goal.

Sit back, take stock
In the end you have but yourself to blame,
Analyze, evaluate, akin to a chess game -
Many moves or options are open to you,
Think rationally, logically, start over again.
